Responsibilities
- Pipeline Optimization: Design and maintain efficient 2D/3D production pipelines to streamline asset workflows and reduce bottlenecks.
- Shader Development: Create complex shader graphs and custom shaders for Unreal Engine 5 and Unity, focusing on performance and visual fidelity.
- Tool Development: Develop Python/Mel and C# tools to automate repetitive tasks, enhance artist productivity, and ensure data integrity.
- Technical Consulting: Collaborate closely with Art Directors and Engineers to solve technical challenges during the pre-production and production phases.
- Performance Analysis: Conduct deep-dive profiling of rendering and gameplay loops to identify and eliminate memory leaks and FPS drops.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all proprietary tools and pipeline processes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the game development or VFX industry.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max; strong experience with Unreal Engine 5 or Unity.
- Scripting: Strong programming skills in Python, MEL, or C# with a proven track record of building production tools.
- Graphics: Deep understanding of PBR workflows, texture atlasing, and GPU optimization techniques.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Fine Arts, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
